Patients who are actively involved in their personal healthcare sometimes self-identify as ePatients, which has been used to describe “individuals who are equipped, enabled, empowered and engaged in their health and health care decisions” (Ferguson, 2009).
ePatient Health Literacy is an organization dedicated to creating open educational resources that help ePatients develop the knowledge and skills they need for self-advocacy and patient-advocacy.
Our focus is on needs identified by ePatients, rather than healthcare professionals.
In addition, our goal is to setup a network of ePatients who are able to consult with medical technology companies to help companies build patient focused technologies that meet actual patient needs.
ePatient Health Literacy is created by patients for patients.
